We have found these to be a usefull addition to magazines kept in deep pouches such as a chest rig, or tactical vest. Additionally, even in easier to reach compartments such as the popular sneakybag rifle fighting bags, when operating in cold environments with gloves on, the mag assist helps to obtain the magazine for speedy reloads. As well, they keep the magazines quiet and prevent the tell-tale metallic sound of two magazines hitting each other in a pouch.

For those using the Siaga Fighting shotguns, we use the Magpul Magazine Assist to differentiate magazines loaded with slugs from magazines loaded with buckshot. The differentiation of ammo is an essential aspect of combat shotgunning and this is one of the easiest ways to do it wih the Saiga.

They come in two sizes: One for the 5.56x45 M-16 type magazine, and one for the 7.62x51 M14 type magazine. The 5.56x45 are the ones you would use for any and all Kalashnikov Magazines as well as any actual M4/M16 magazines. They will be a tight fit getting them on, but they will in fact fit. You see me running them in the Advanced Kalashnikov Gunfighting DVD. So don't complain that they don't fit, because they do with a little force.

With the Saiga shotgun, you will need the 7.62x51 size. Again - a tight fit, but use force and a little gun oil and it will work fine.
