Q: My IMG DVD is not working in my computer. What can I do?

1. Make sure your system meets the requirements for playing a DVD.
Minimum requirements for XP:
2 GHZ processor like a Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon 64
512 MB RAM
NVIDIA Geforce 6 series or better, or ATI RADEON 9xxx series or better
At least 8x speed DVD drive that supports DVD-R discs.

Minimum requirements for Vista/Windows 7:
2.5 GHz processor
1.5  GB RAM
NVIDIA Geforce 8 series or better, ATI RADEON HD series or better
At least 8x speed DVD drive that supports DVD-R discs.

2. Make sure you have a DVD decoder installed.
A DVD decoder is required to play a DVD, however XP does not include one by default. To get a DVD decoder you must buy WinDVD or Power DVD, which include a DVD decoder.

To make sure your system has a DVD decoder, install the Windows XP Video Decoder Checkup Utility found here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=de1491ac-0ab6-4990-943d-627e6ade9fcb&displaylang=en.  If the utility does not show any decoders installed, then you will need to buy either WinDVD or Power DVD to install a decoder or try step 4.

3. Make sure the disc works in a set-top DVD player.
If it does work in another player, then your computer is the problem, not the disc.

4. Try using VLC Media Player to play the DVD.
VLC does not require a DVD decoder to play a DVD and is free, so this is useful if you don't have a DVD decoder. Get VLC from http://www.videolan.org
