Detailed Description
Designated Marksman Sling
When I began looking for a sling for the Guerrilla Sniper Program, I looked no further than Andy Langlois. I met Andy several years ago in New Hampshire at a class and he showed me some of his leather work. In a word, amazing! At the time, I did not have an application for his product, but when I began looking for a sniper type sling I knew I wanted leather.
Leather is more suitable for a shooting sling than nylon. Remember...the application here is not a CQB run through the house shooting terrorists sling. It is intended primarily as a shooting aid and secondarily as a carry strap. And there are some important benefits that a leather sling offers as a shooting aid that are not available with any current nylon sling.
The lineage of this goes back to two slings, a "contractor sling" that Andy makes, and the old Ching Sling that was prevalent in Jeff Cooper's Scout Rifle studies. It is easy to use, and super fast. A sling is sometimes preferred over a bipod in certain applications. This sling is as fast to use as a bipod, and can be used in broken ground where a bipod might not be easily used.
You will need to mount a third sling swivel position toward the rear of your handguard. See the photo for indications.
This sling is sold in plain/unfinished condition to be either left alone or finished by you as you wish, with either dye, paint, or simple leather products. Andy advises that the preferred Contractor/Marine method of finishing the sling has been Coyote Tan paint over the buckles and straps. We can special order the sling finished in black or saddle brown at additional cost.
